The Publican

The Publican
774 Albany Highway
EAST VICTORIA PARK
Open 7 days for lunch and dinner, sundays only for breakfast.

I have an issue with Fruit Toast. I love Fruit Toast. So why is it always really crappy when you order it for breakfast?? Can anybody tell me where I can order good Fruit Toast in Perth? Only prerequisite is that it has to be an inch thick.

I got really excited when I saw the description on the breakfast menu claiming figs, sweet dates, sultanas and currants. Surely it's going to be good, sounds a bit fancy?! Nope, still came out looking like warmed fruit bread from the supermarket. I could have stayed home with some of that awesome Cafe Raisin Bread and toasted it properly myself.

I got a strawberry smoothie to go with it and it was pink but tasted purely of yoghurt.

My sister got basic bacon and eggs. Looked pretty good but two eggs, lots of bacon and a tiny bit of toast? Not quite got the right ratio going on there.

All in all, won't go back again for breakfast, felt like we were inconveniencing the staff by being there. To start with we were asked to move tables so the waitress didn't have to clear the one we were seated at.

Might try the tapas one night but not in a hurry.

  1. I always buy my fruit toast from Jean Claude Patisserie in Subi. Less than $5 for a whole loaf of super thick slices full of dates, apricots and figs. Amazing - lzap
